What is your background?
I started my creative journey as a jewelry designer, then fell into making these prints by chance. I was playing around digital technology and discovered this form of expressing myself.
What does your work aim to say?
My art explores the female form, sensuality and emotion. It aims to connect with women and their sensibilities towards men, love, heartache, and their own sexuality. It is essentially about the female experience, and touches on the vulnerabilities, frailties, and softness of women, as well as the strength and power they posses all at once. It primarily explores themes of deep heartache, love, lust, resilience, and raw emotion. Most of the time it stems from a personal experience i'm currently having, or it draws on past experiences and emotions that i can so readily tap into, and expressing them helps me to process it.
What are the obstacles that female artists still encounter today in regard to their art, or the fact it's made by woman?
I don't feel that there are any obstacles anymore when it comes to visual arts, as it relies on the woman herself to make it, no one else. Other creative industries such as film or music are different as they usually require the involvement of others along the way at some point, however nothing is stopping someone from making art and sharing it and promoting it online themselves - which is a fantastic thing. You just have to put it out there and accept that some people will like it and some won't.
